To appreciate something is to increase its value. Here in the sub tropical environment,  I can appreciate the abundance of floral beauty in the form of vibrant native plants and the rich green of the trees and earth. The stately trees which line most streets in the small town on the Clarence river, are native Jacarandas which turn lilac each November and lend their name to a local festival at that time. I love the bold colours of  Native Hibiscus and Canna Lillies. Some locals are traditionalists and have gardens full of European plants, which also flourish in this climate but as the French say ‘ Chacun à  son gout’ .
